ESOS is the UK government’s scheme for mandatory energy assessments which must be conducted by, or at least reviewed and signed off by, assessors who are on one of the approved registers. We are now in Phase 2 with a submission deadline in December 2019, but the Environment Agency is trying to get participants to act now.
During Phase 1 I ran a closed LinkedIn group for people actively engaged with ESOS; it provided a useful forum with lots of high-quality discussion. I have recently cleared out the less relevant material and reopened the group for discussion. In 2015 I also developed a few useful resources and here are the links all in one place:
- Relevant abstracts from Article 8 of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (interesting background);
- Version 4 of the scheme guidance from the Environment Agency;
- a suggested minimal reporting framework; and
- a model participant declaration form which covers those aspects of compliance that are not normally covered within audit reports themselves.
